This official stamp may be from one of the following: a solicitor/notary, the educational institution from where the student gained the diplomas, or the local council/local authority/local government office. Please include the official grading system used by the university or country, if this is not clearly explained on the transcript.

  • Preparatory courses

A number of preparatory courses are available via IHE Open Course Ware (OCW). You can visit the OCW platform and create an account, so that you can access the preparatory courses for the MSc programme in Water and Sustainable Development.

In the above overview you can see which preparatory courses are advised for specific tracks and profiles. You are strongly advised to study these courses before your arrival at IHE Delft. Especially those applicants who are interested in a certain track/profile, who did not study the advised courses during their undergraduate programmes, or who need to refresh their knowledge about these subjects, are strongly advised to take time to study the advised preparatory courses.

A very important preparatory course is the English language course. All applicants are advised to take this course.

  • What will happen after you submitted your application for the Research MSc?

After receipt of the application, the IHE Delft admission office will screen the application on English requirements, GPA and relevant BSc degree.

Applicants are provisionally admitted to the programme based on their initial preference for a track and profile. Applicants must indicate in their application at which department and in what scientific field they would like to do research.

Once the application file is complete and all objectively verifiable criteria are met, the file is forwarded to the relevant academic department, where the academic record and motivation statement of the applicant are reviewed. In case of a potential match between applicant and department, the applicant will be invited for an online interview with a member of the department.

Based on the outcome of the interview, the applicant may be accepted, re-directed to another IHE Delft academic department, or the application may be discontinued. After acceptance of the applicant by the academic department, the applicant will be formally granted “academic admission” by the Academic Registrar.

Once academically admitted, the applicant will receive an admission letter and can start the search for funding.

  • What will happen after you secured funding for the Research MSc?

Once funding has been secured and IHE Delft has received financial confirmation (e.g. through a scholarship or other funding source), the applicant will be “financially admitted”.

The applicant will then start interacting with an IHE Delft coach to explore which individual study trajectory best fits the applicants’ learning ambitions. The applicant’s background determines the scope of modules the applicant can select from.

A research master coach, who is an experienced and active researcher in the academic department which supported the applicant’s academic admission, will guide the student throughout his/her learning trajectory, including the taught modules and the thesis research components.

This involves support in the selection of the track modules during the first year to ensure alignment with the envisioned research topic, in the development of the thesis research topic, and more generally with all aspects of participating in the Research MSc programme, ensuring that the student can successfully achieve the learning objectives.
