Dr Seleshi Yalew is a lecturer/researcher in Water Accounting at the Department of Land and Water Management. His current research focuses on remote sensing techniques for water accounting and water productivity applications. Dr Yalew holds a PhD in integrated water resources management from IHE Delft/TUDelft, The Netherlands, an MSc in hydroinformatics from IHE Delft, The Netherlads, and a BSc in information systems from Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia.
Prior to joining IHE Delft, Dr Yalew worked as a postdoctoral researcher on integrated water resources optimization at the Technical Univesity of Delft (2019-2022) as well as on integrated assessment modeling with emphasis on renewable energy potentials at Utrecht and Wageningen Universities (2017-2019).
Research Summary
Dr Yalew's research interests involve Big-Data driven spatial analysis and modelling of sectoral and cross-sectoral challenges in water, energy, food, and ecological systems particularly with respect to climate change. His current research involves the application of remote sensing data and techniques in water accounting and crop water productivity concepts.
