Johannes Cullmann is IHE Delft’s Director for Impact and Partnerships. In this role, he supports strategic developments and networking activities to improve IHE Delft’s operation and products Johannes is responsible for strengthening bilateral partnerships for impact as well as strategic partnerships for sustainable development.
Johannes early career was focused on hydrological modelling and flood forecasting. He worked in Chile as a development cooperation expert to interpret and amend water law and for river restoration projects. For two years, Johannes worked to improve the understanding of Amazonian floodplain lake dynamics for a Brazilian-German research cooperation.
For the German Federal Institute for Hydrology, he was responsible for international water cooperation and science development. He has supported various international commissions for transboundary water cooperation and presided UNESCO´s water program from 2012 to 2014. From 2015 to 2022, Johannes led climate and water activities in the World Meteorological Organisation before serving as Chief Science Advisor to the President of the 77th United Nations General Assembly.
Johannes is a German water scientist. He has worked for German universities and holds a PhD and a Habilitation in hydrology as well as a Master in Public Management.
