Senior Lecturer in Remote Sensing for Water Management

Claire Michailovsky

Claire joined the Water Accounting and Water Productivity team at IHE as a lecturer in March 2017. In her work at IHE she focuses on the development and application of the Water Accounting Plus (WA+) method and tools, as well as providing trainings on WA+ and remote sensing for water resources.

Before joining IHE, Claire's work was focused on radar remote sensing for surface water. From 2013 to 2016 she worked as a Postdoctoral scholar at NASA's Jet Propulsion Lab (JPL) on the AirSWOT instrument and preparation for the Surface Water Ocean Topography (SWOT) satellite mission.

Claire's PhD research "Updating river basin models with radar altimetry" focused on the improvement of modeled discharge estimates through data assimilation of altimetry from the Envisat satellite mission. She carried out her PhD research on case studies in the Zambezi and Brahmaputra river basins.
