Tanyaradzwa Amanda Gumbo is a PhD Candidate at IHE Delft in the Land and Water Management Department. Her doctoral research focuses on exploring financial modalities in farmer-led irrigation in semi-arid regions of Africa, with a specific focus on the sand rivers of Kenya and Zimbabwe.
Her PhD forms part of the Adapt African Alluvial Aquifers to Strengthen Their Own Resilience (A4STORE) project, demonstrating her dedication to addressing water-related challenges in vulnerable environments.
With over 12 years of experience in the irrigation sector in Zimbabwe, Tanyaradzwa brings a wealth of expertise to her research. Prior to her current role at IHE Delft, she held positions at the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) Zimbabwe, contributing her skills as an Engineer to various impactful projects. Additionally, she served as an Irrigation Engineer at the Department of Irrigation in Zimbabwe, where she worked in different provinces with varying climatic and water resources contexts.
Tanyaradzwa holds an MSc with distinction in Water Management, specializing in Water Resources Management, from IHE Delft, which she earned in 2018. She also holds a Bachelor of Technology in Agricultural Engineering from Chinhoyi University of Technology, Zimbabwe.
Driven by a passion for food and water security, as well as a commitment to enhancing the resilience of rural livelihoods in semi-arid and arid areas in the face of climate change, Tanyaradzwa exemplifies a dedication to addressing critical global challenges through her academic pursuits and practical experience.
