Susan Namaalwa

Susan Namaalwa graduated with an MSc in Environmental Science from UNESCO-IHE, Delft, in 2008, specializing in Limnology and Wetland Ecosystems. In her thesis, she explored the influence of wetland-based agriculture on water quality and nutrient buffer capacity of four wetland systems (Nakivubo, Kinawataka, Lubigi and Namiro) in Uganda. Since 2009, she has worked at Uganda National Water and Sewerage Corporation as a Research Officer focusing on water and wastewater quality management. From 2009 to 2012, she was a researcher for the EU funded WETwin research project with a focus on integrated wetland assessment and management in two wetland case studies for Uganda; Nabajjuzi and Namatala wetland sites.

Susan is currently a PhD research fellow at IHE Delft, Institute for Water Education. She is a member of Water Science and Engineering Department under the Aquatic Ecosystem Chair group. In her research work, she explores the nutrient pathways within Namatala wetland in relation to the current agricultural exploitation
