Gaby Castrellon Romero

Maria Gabriela Castrellon studied her bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering at the University of Connecticut (USA) and her master’s degree in Hydrological Sciences at the University of California, Davis (USA). In 2021 she was awarded a full Doctoral Scholarship from the Panamanian government (IFARHU-SENACYT) to pursue her PhD in the field of hydroinformatics. Before joining IHE, she worked with the Centre for Hydraulic and Hydrotechnical Research of the Technological University of Panama, where she co-led projects on hydrogeological characterization and groundwater modelling.

She was the founding president of IAHR Panama YPN, a young professionals’ network affiliated to the International Association of Hydro-Environmental Engineering and Research (IAHR) and is currently the Young Professional Representative for Latin America in the IAHR Council.
