Eliana Torres is a PhD candidate at IHE Delft and Delft University of Technology. She holds a Master’s degree in Environmental Systems from Monterrey Institute of Technology (ITESM) and a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering from Francisco José de Caldas District University in Bogotá, Colombia.
Before starting her PhD, Eliana worked as a Project Research Specialist at ITESM’s Water Center for nearly five years, providing technical support for water research projects across Latin America. Her work focused on hydrology, water systems modelling, and water resources assessment, emphasizing spatial and temporal variability. She also lectured on Environmental Impact Assessment for territorial projects.
Research Summary
Eliana’s PhD research focuses on modelling the impact of Land-Use-Land-Cover (LULC) changes on hydrological processes, including floods and droughts, in strategic basins within the Amazon and Mexico. Her work aims to support improved land-use policies and water management strategies.
