Anne Lilande

Anne is a PhD student in the Department of Water Resources and Ecosystems at IHE Delft and Water Management at TU Delft. Her doctoral research focuses on the quantification of hydrological fluxes in the transboundary Lake Turkana Basin in Kenya and Ethiopia.
Her research builds upon her previous work and extensive field work in the Mara River Basin in Kenya and Tanzania where she developed a water allocation plan and conducted environmental flows assessments and water quality analysis. Her PhD research is funded by and contributes to the 10-year programme Sustainably unlocking the economic potential of Lake Turkana funded by the Kingdom of the Netherlands and led by UNESCO and WFP, which focuses on the Lake resource management and stewardship, and on nutrition and sustainable livelihood, and the project Support towards the implementation of the corrective measures under the Desired State of Conservation for the removal of the Lake Turkana National Park from the List of the World Heritage in Danger, funded by the Government of Norway through the UNESCO World Heritage Centre (WHC).
She holds an MSc. in Hydrology and Water Resources from IHE Delft and a BSc. in Agricultural Engineering from Egerton University. Her master's thesis investigated "Spatial assessment of water types using multiple tracers in the Mara River Basin in Kenya."
