Online resources with restricted access
These resources can be accessed by IHE Delft students and staff while Institute premises or remotely with IHE Delft credentials.
AGU American Geophysical Union Journals Online subscription includes access to journals published from 1996 to the current issue. The Digital Library offers online access to AGU Journals between 1896-1995.
ASCE publishes 33 journals—more than 7,000 papers per year of civil engineering research and practice.

The International Journal of River Basin Management
This journal promotes a cross-sectorial approach encompassing all aspects of river and floodplain management from a truly global perspective. Launched at the Third World Water Forum in Kyoto, March 2003, the Journal is published in four issues per year in print and electronic format, and is co-published by IAHR with IAHS and INBO. The Journal is a response by the scientific and professional community to the World Water Vision and calls by the World Water Council and Global Water Partnership for an integrated approach to water resources management.

The Wiley Online Library provides access to over 1.500 peer-reviewed academic journals from Wiley and Blackwell publishers, as well as the Encyclopedia of Hydrological Sciences.
Open access resources
The collective name for three programmes – HINARI, AGORA and OARE - Research4Life provides developing countries with free or low- cost access to academic and professional peer-reviewed content online. Research4Life- eligible libraries and their users benefit from:
· Online access to over 8100 peer-reviewed international scientific journals, books, and databases
· Full-text articles which can be downloaded for saving, printing or reading on screen
· Searching by keyword, subject, author or language
· Resources available in several languages
· Training in information literacy and promotional support
AGRICOLA (AGRICultural OnLine Access) serves as the catalog and index to the collections of the U.S. National Agricultural Library, as well as a primary public source for world-wide access to agricultural information. The database covers materials in all formats and periods, including printed works from as far back as the 15th century. The NAL Catalog (AGRICOLA) is organized into two bibliographic data sets:
· The NAL Online Public Access Catalog contains citations to books, audiovisuals, serials, and other materials, most of which are in the Library's collection. (The Catalog does contain some records for items not held at NAL.)
· The Article Citation Database includes citations, many with abstracts, to journal articles, book chapters, reports, and reprints, selected primarily from the materials found in the NAL Catalog.
African Journals Online (AJOL) is a collection of over 300 peer-reviewed, African-published scholarly journals. AJOL provides access to citations, and where available to abstracts and/or fulltext.
Directory of Open Access Journals covers free, full text, quality controlled scientific and scholarly journals. They cover all subjects and languages. There are over 5000 free, full-text available journals in the directory.
BASE is one of the world's most voluminous search engines especially for academic open access web resources. BASE is operated by Bielefeld University Library in Germany.
The International Development Research Centre (IDRC), based in Ottawa, Canada, IDRC provides access to free online books on topics including from the International Development Research Centre, Ottawa, Canada. Topics include: Development/evaluation, Economics, Environment/biodiversity, Food/agriculture, Health, IT/communication, Natural resources, Science/technology, Social/political sciences. The books can be read online or downloaded.
The repository is designed for smart phones, tablets and workstations and allows the library to easily build and showcase digital collections easily. Among various useful APIs, the repository uses Optical Character Recognition, which allows text characters in an image file to be searched, therefore enhancing the discovery experience. The IHE repository contains all Master Thesis, PhD dissertations and Open Access publications. The repository is also integrated in WorldCat Discovery.
NARCIS offersgives access to scientific information consisting of (open access) publications from the repositories of all the Dutch universities, KNAW, NWO, and a number of research institutes, the datasets of the institute DANS, ands well as descriptions of research projects, institutes and researchers.
National Academies Press offers access to hundreds of books which can be downloaded for free of charge by the chapter or the entire book. Topics include: Agriculture, Behavioral and Social Sciences, Conflict and Security Issues, Education, Energy, Environmental Studies, Food & Nutrition, Industry and Labor.
OpenDOAR - Directory of Open Access Repositories is a directory of academic open access repositories worldwide. In addition to As well as providing a simple repository list, users can OpenDOAR lets you search for repositories (by subject, country, publication type, ) or and search repository contents.
PubMed Central is a free digital archive of biomedical and life sciences journal literature. The full text of all PubMed Central articles is available for free.
UNdata offers a single-entry point to international statistical databases. Users can search and download a variety of statistical resources compiled by the United Nations (UN) statistical system and other international agencies. The numerous databases or tables collectively known as "datamarts" contain over 60 million data points and cover a wide range of statistical themes including agriculture, crime, communication, development assistance, education, energy, environment, finance, gender, health, labour market, manufacturing, national accounts, population and migration, science and technology, tourism, transport and trade.
In addition to the "datamarts", the UNdata home page links to specialized databases, such as UNComtrade, SDG indicators and MBS Online; popular statistical tables produced as part of the UN Statistical Yearbook publication, and statistical profiles of countries (areas) and regions produced as part of the World Statistics Pocketbook publication.
UNdata provides free data access to UN statistical databases through a single entry point. Users can search and download a variety of statistical resources of the UN system. Useful features include Country Profiles, Advanced Search and Glossaries. The numerous databases, tables and glossaries containing over 60 million data points cover a wide range of themes including Agriculture, Crime, Education, Employment, Energy, Environment, Health, HIV/AIDS, Human Development, Industry, Information and Communication Technology, National Accounts, Population, Refugees, Tourism, Trade, as well as the Millennium Development Goals indicators.
WorldCat is a global network of library content consisting of books, articles, online resources and more. However, a lot of books and articles you find in Worldcat are not free or available near you. You can consult your local library to see if they have access to the materials you find in WorldCat. OAIster is also in Worldcat. In the search results from WorldCat, the "Internet Resources" often come from OAIster.
The World Bank's Open Data Initiative is providing free access to its comprehensive set of data on living standards around the globe - some 2,000 indicators, including hundreds that go back 50 years. Databases include: World Development Indicators (WDI), Global Development Finance (GDF) and African Development Indicators (ADI).
As part of its Open Access (OA) initiative, the World Bank opened an Open Knowledge Repository that holds more than 2,100 annual reports, journals, working papers, books (further delineated as corporate flagships, data annuals, regional/sectoral flagships, and series), economic and sector work studies (core diagnostic reports and sector/thematic studies), and multilingual content dating from 2009 to 2012.
