Uta Wehn appointed next Adlerbert Guest Professor of Sustainable Development

Following a competitive procedure, Dr. Uta Wehn has been appointed as the next Adlerbert Guest Professor of Sustainable Development. Her guest professorship will focus on Marine Citizen Science for sustainable development in order to add value to the marine research at University of Gothenburg which spans over several faculties and which is increasingly Citizen Science-based.

New Marine Citizen Science projects

This guest professorship presents the opportunity to leverage Uta Wehn’s expertise in the science of Citizen Science to implement holistic approaches in existing and new Marine Citizen Science projects at the University of Gothenburg and to help strategically position the university and its research ambitions and activities from the start of the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development.

Key goals

Key goals of this guest professorship is to contribute new knowledge and concepts to the field of Marine Citizen Science in particular as well as Citizen Science and sustainability science more generally. Moreover, this guest professorship can help institutionalise Citizen Science as a new paradigm for marine research at the University of Gothenburg via its research and education activities. Naturally, it also presents exciting opportunities for collaboration among IHE Delft, the University of Gothenburg and other academic, sector and network organisations which are part of the marine science cluster in Gothenburg.
