New collaboration: IHE Delft & Utrecht University Geosciences

IHE Delft and the Faculty of Geosciences at Utrecht University entered a collaborative partnership with the signing of a cooperation agreement. The agreement demonstrates the shared vision on both education and research between the two Institutions.

IHE Delft Rector Eddy Moors and Utrecht University Faculty of Geosciences Dean Wilco Hazeleger, Dean Faculty of Geosciences signed the Memorandum of Understanding on 15 February.

“Interdisciplinarity in our work on water is what drew us to collaborate with Utrecht University. How can we work from academic research towards implementation? I am looking forward to the next steps,” Moors said.

Hazeleger added: “This collaboration is very valuable. We both have a commonality in the themes we work on, and in our differences,  we can complement one another. As two education institutes, we can teach the next generation.”

The Faculty of Geosciences at Utrecht University focuses on terrestrial systems and sustainability This encompasses a broad spectrum ranging from the earth's evolution and surface dynamics as a holistic system, to addressing ecological, economic and social sustainability issues and their practical applications in policy and governance. It aims to foster inclusive, resilient and thriving urban environments.

Through this new collaboration, IHE Delft and Utrecht University Geosciences will share knowledge and expertise to pave the way for innovative solutions that will drive sustainable development and create positive societal impact.
