Michael Mutale, Alumni Award winner 2013

Alumnus Michael Mutale from Zambia was the winner of the first edition of the IHE Delft Alumni Award 2013. Mutale has been honoured for his dedication to improving quality of life in Southern Africa and his efforts in solving water resources management challenges.

Currently, Michael Mutale is Executive Secretary at Zambezi Watercourse Commission (ZAMCOM) and coordinator of the Global Water Partnership for Southern African Regional Technical Committee. His efforts were instrumental in the creation of ZAMCOM, the ZAMCOM agreement as well as SADC Protocol on Shared Watercourses. Furthermore, he actively promoted the exchange of thematic information on water resources management in Africa.

Mutale followed an MSc Programme in Water Resources Management at IHE in Delft, now IHE Delft, and graduated in 1994. Moreover, he is also a former member of the Founding Committee of IHE Delft.
