IHE Delft elected as Governor in the World Water Council
IHE Delft has been elected as one of the World Water Council (WWC) Governors for the period 2023-2025.
The World Water Council has been an international multistakeholder platform on water for more than 25 years. The Council unites expertise from diverse sectors, regions, disciplines and professional fields to mobilize action on critical water issues at all levels, including the highest decision-making level. That mobilization has grown year after year, building recognition for water on the global agenda.
Since its formal founding in 1996, the Council has convened the international network, most prominently by coordinating and organizing the triannual series of World Water Forums. The last Forum took place in Dakar, Senegal in 2022, with one-year delay due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The 10th World Water Forum will take place in March 2024, in Bali, Indonesia.
“The World Water Council is an influential platform in the international water network,” said IHE Delft Rector Eddy Moors. “It reaches and interacts on the highest decision-making levels. Youth has our special interest and our ambition as governing board member is to stress the importance of capacity development on water issues, across ages and institutions.”

IHE Delft, as a UNESCO Category 2 Centre, is one of the four representative Governors from the inter-governmental organizations’ category. The other 34 Governors represent governments, companies, civil society organizations and research institutes.
IHE Delft was elected governing board member during the 79th WWC Board of Governors meeting, held in December 2022 in Paris.
