SIDS Water Challenges and Opportunities: Co-creating Over Distances

Join us for a one-hour seminar, where we will discuss the experiences of the IHE Delft SIDS programme, present activities of our SIDS alumni and discuss key water challenges in SIDS, and explore collaborative opportunities for sustainable development. We will also launch a new Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) on “Integrated Management of Small Island Water and Marine Resources”.
Small Island Developing States (SIDS) face distinct challenges due to their geographic isolation, limited resources, and vulnerability to climate change. IHE Delft has been conducting educational, research and capacity development programmes covering SIDS as a special area of interest since 2016. Including a MSc scholarship programme for SIDS students where scholarships have been awarded to more than 90 students.
To contribute to addressing SIDS challenges, we are launching the new MOOC. This course aims to empower professionals, researchers, and community leaders with the necessary skills and knowledge to develop effective strategies for sustainable water management. It was co-created as a collaborative effort between IHE Delft staff and our SIDS alumni.
