Art, journalism and science: a collaboration on water and climate change storytelling

Art, Journalism, and Science event

How can artists, journalists, and scientists collaborate to create compelling water and climate change stories? In the webinar art, journalism and science: a collaboration on water and climate change storytelling artists, journalists and scientists are invited to come together, speak each other's language and discover ways to communicate the urgency of the water challenges we face.

In 2023, alumni of the Royal Academy of Art in the Hague  (KABK) collaborated with Arab Reporters for Investigative Journalism (ARIJ) to create three examples of visual storytelling on environmental justice during a week-long summer school titled ‘Rewriting Climate Headlines’.

The art,  journalism and science: a collaboration on water and climate change storytelling webinar builds on the success of this initiative, in which artists, researchers, and investigative journalists explored the potential of cross-disciplinary collaboration and developed innovative approaches to storytelling about environmental justice.

During this event, we will particularly delve into a climate story related to water scarcity in the Jordan Valley and the voices of female farmers. The collaboration resulted in an investigative piece published in the media, an art exhibition during the ARIJ 16th Annual Forum in Amman (Jordan) and a video-cast shown at the COP28 in Dubai in November 2023.

The webinar is organised by IHE Delft in cooperation with the Global Network of Water Museums, with the support of the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management, as part of the series of webinars titled ‘When Waters Speak’.
