Prof. Dr. Eddy J. Moors is Rector of IHE Delft Institute for Water Education. He also holds the position of Water and Climate professor at Vrije Universiteit, Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Moors started his career at the World Meteorological Organization working in Africa and the Caribbean. Before coming to Delft, he worked at Wageningen Environmental Research.
Moors' appointments include chair of the Global Network of Water Museums (WaMuNet), member of the board of trustees of the Just Digit Foundation and chair of the SENSE research school, member of the board of governors of the World Water Council and chair of the Stakeholder Advisory Board of Water4All. He is associated editor of the Elsevier journal Environmental Science and Policy and a member of the editorial board of the Elsevier journal Climate Services.
Keywords in his research include: water, drought, climate change, adaptation, green-house gas emissions and stakeholder interaction. He is especially interested in integrating different disciplines to tackle research and policy questions that ask for an inter- and trans-disciplinary approach. His research ranges from more fundamental oriented research towards applied research with clients coming from policy makers to private businesses to citizens and farmers. Moors has (co-)authored more than 100 peer-reviewed papers and numerous professional publications.
He is a champion of capacity development and calls on countries to devote resources to the development of knowledge and capacity to tackle the increasingly urgent water related challenges the world is facing.
