Online Course on Sanitation Technology
This course gives participants a review on the basis for the technology design of non-sewer and sewer based sanitation technology solutions.
For whom?
- Young and mid-career water, sanitation or public health professionals working in private companies, local authorities or NGOs.
- Practitioners, decision-makers and other professionals (not strictly working already in the field) who have the interest to expand their knowledge in Sanitation.
Non-sewer as well as sewer-base sanitation is becoming a more and more state-of-the-art technology. As cities are exponentially growing, traditional sewer-base solutions to provide good sanitation for all, do not suffice. Instead new approaches, such as City Wide inclusive sanitation, are been used to fill up this gap.
While being at MSc level, the course has a professional practical orientation. The course gives the participants a review on the basis for the technology design of non-sewer and sewer based sanitation technology solutions.
The course is organized in the following units:
- Sewer-base sanitation
- Containment/capture of non-sewer based sanitation
- Sanitation for informal settlements
- Primary treatment and decentralized & secondary treatment systems.
At the end of this course, participants will possess not solely the fundamental understanding of the review technologies but also the knowledge necessary to create professional impact ‘on the ground’.
By the end of the online course the participant can elucidate and decide on the most adequate technological solutions to deal with waste generated from non-sewer sanitation.
